Free Internet for Area Residents

RiverNet Connect, a subsidiary of Lynches River Electric Cooperative (LREC), is offering free broadband internet access to eligible residents in Chesterfield, Lancaster and Kershaw counties.

This service will be provided to eligible families of K-12 students, Pell Grant recipients, those receiving Lifeline benefits (visit lifelinesupport.org for eligibility requirements) and individuals that experienced a substantial, documented loss of income since Feb. 29, 2020.

To determine eligibility, visit GetEmergencyBroadband.org. On this website, RiverNet Connect is identified as Lynches River Communications, Inc. Upon completion of the online application, you should receive an immediate notification of their approval typically via email. Once approved, the applicant should contact our member services line by calling 843-675-3200 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. to complete the application process to receive free broadband internet.

“It’s a fact that the quality of your home’s internet access has a direct impact on a student’s success,” said Brian Broughton, CEO for LREC. “Our offer of free broadband internet will keep the students in the communities we serve connected and learning. It’s more apparent than ever that broadband is no longer a luxury. It’s a necessity for everyone.”

Our team is working diligently to expand our service territory as quickly as possible; however, at this time service is not available to all of the LREC service territory. Check service availability by clicking here.
